Leverage The Power of Multiple Arbitrage For Your AGENCY

Buy agencies for 4-5X EBITDA and sell for 7-9X

The larger of two identical agencies usually sells at a higher multiple simply because it is larger. If agencies with $1M in EBITDA sell at 5x earnings and companies with $2M EBITDA sell at 7x earnings, a company with $2M in EBITDA can acquire a $1M EBITDA company for $5M and automatically be able to sell that company, as part of its whole, for $21M. Since the acquirer did nothing to change the agency, this is multiple arbitrage.

Some private equity companies build strategies around rolling up industries solely for the purpose of increasing aggregate EBITDA and then being able to sell the whole company for a greater value than the sum of its parts. This is exactly the value you can create from acquisitions.
